ANTENATAL CONSULTATION UNIT ULTRASOUND EQUIPMENT DONATED BY CARZ N’ TOYZ
CHERRY HILL – For more than 40 years, the Osborn Family Health Center at Lourdes has offered primary and specialty care to the poor and underserved of Camden City and surrounding municipalities, with a particular focus on providing optimal prenatal care to over 1,000 pregnant women. Ultrasound screenings are an important clinical component in this care and over 3,000 ultrasounds are performed each year by the Antenatal Consultation Unit of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center.
An ultrasound, also called a sonogram, helps monitor normal fetal development and screen for any potential problems. Providing the best ultrasound imaging became increasingly difficult as the equipment aged, making new equipment necessary. As a hospital that serves Camden, resources are limited and thankfully Carz N’ Toyz stepped in as the largest donor to help make new equipment possible. The new equipment provides state of the art imaging technology including 3D/4D images, allowing physicians to monitor the health of the unborn baby. This includes the fetal heartbeat, structures, the gestational age of the baby and estimated due date, checking for multiple pregnancies, and complications of pregnancy.
